Driveway replacement in Vancouver, WA and Clark County
When a driveway has cracked across most of its panels or sunk in places, it’s time for a new one. MJ Concrete tears out the old driveway, rebuilds the base and pours a new one in the finish you pick.

Signs it’s time to replace your driveway
Cracks across most of the panels, sections that have sunk or tilted, edges that have broken off, and water that pools in the same spots every time it rains. Older driveways that were poured thin or on poor ground tend to show all of these at once.
Tearing out the old driveway
The old concrete is broken up, loaded and hauled away. Then the ground underneath gets the attention the first driveway probably didn’t: soft spots dug out, the base rebuilt with compacted gravel, and the slope set so water runs toward the street or a drain instead of toward the garage.
Changing the size, shape or finish
Replacing a driveway is the easiest time to make it wider, add a parking pad, change the shape or switch the finish. A lot of people go from plain concrete to exposed aggregate, or add a stamped border.
What driveway replacement costs
HomeAdvisor lists an average of $5,009 for concrete driveway and flatwork jobs in Vancouver, WA, with most between $2,643 and $7,402. A replacement costs more than a new driveway of the same size because the old one has to be broken up and hauled away first. Our concrete cost guide goes through what else changes the price.

Questions about driveway replacement
How long does a driveway replacement take?
It depends on the size and the weather, and we’ll go over the schedule at the estimate. Once it’s poured, give the new driveway about 7 days before you park a car on it.
Do I need a permit to replace my driveway?
Replacing it on your own lot often doesn’t need one. Changing or widening the entrance at the street usually needs a permit from the City of Vancouver, or from Clark County outside city limits. We’ll tell you at the estimate.
Can you pour over my old driveway?
New concrete on top of a cracked driveway usually isn’t worth it. The cracks come back through, and the driveway ends up higher than the garage floor and the street. Tearing it out and starting on a good base lasts much longer.
Can I make my driveway wider when it’s replaced?
Yes. Replacement is the easiest time to widen it or add a parking pad, since the forms are being set new anyway.
